When clicking export to PDF, it exports the "hello world space" not my active space

Hi I just got started with kinopio after upgrading, and I was trying out the export to PDF feature, but it exported the “hello world” project as a PDF, not my current project. I tried multiple times and tried to confirm I am clicking “export” from within my particular PDF.

But this is the PDF that downloads:

can you also replicate this?

hey notplants, i tried to reproduce this by opening a private space clicking share → export → pdf. I also got this problem so will fix today

just released a fix for this, please give it another try and let me know how it goes

hi @pirijan thanks for the response!

now when I try to export the PDF, it doesn’t export the default example, but it exports a blank grid.

I cloned my project to make a test case for debugging, in case thats helpful. Its here: Kinopio – Thinking Canvas

This is the PDF that is exported:

hmm that is odd, after clicking the invite link and exporting pdf, I get the correct pdf, pictured below (although missing the connection lines). tried it twice just to make sure.

It’s possible that pdf service (urlbox) cached an old copy of the space and wasn’t updated fully when you tried the pdf. If you try it again in a private space does it still not work for you? If you create a new private space and try exporting , does that work?

oh wait nm, it appears the pdf export can sometimes take too long causing the app to throw an error or serve a corrupted pdf. Will rework this, probably it’s best to just email you a link to the pdf after exporting instead of making you sit around and wait for the dl link in the app

some spaces take too long to load/render so instead of having you wait for the export, you’ll instead receive an email with your pdf as soon as it’s ready.

@pirijan I’ve just attempted the PDF export again both in the project I linked to, and also in a new cloned copy of that project, and I now it produces a PDF which appears to be corrupted and cannot be opened. I also have not received an email with an exported PDF.

If you’re not seeing a message about receiving an email after clicking pdf than you’re probably running an old version of the Kinopio client. Refresh and try again. The client app no longer attempts to download the pdf directly

when clicking PDF instead of a loading indicator, you should immediately see the message ‘PDF Sent to your Email’

@pirijan I clicked the “update kinopio” dialog that appeared in the bottom left, and now the export PDF via email is working (other than the lines between items). Thanks!
