When move around the canvas, we have two choices: the default option, which feels too slow, or the fast option, which is too quick and sometimes buggy. Can we have a pan mode similar to Figma or Photoshop, where the mouse pointer moves in sync with the content you’re panning?
+1 panning is certainly something that could be improved
have a fix for this in the works, will release tomorrow after a bit more testing
wow that’s swift <3 thank you pirijan!
no problem! just shipped it out
Hi Pirijan,
Thank you for the quick shipping! I realize I may not have clearly communicated my point in my original post. What I meant to suggest is a panning mode that mimics real-life panning. Specifically, I would like to be able to drag the mouse to move the content in sync with the pointer.
For clarification, I’ve attached a video of my screen recording. In the video, you can see how applications like Figma and Photoshop allow you to pan the canvas in an intuitive way when holding down the middle mouse button or the spacebar. Compared to panning in Kinopio.club it’s quite different.
Here’s the link to the video: https://files.catbox.moe/0qsk8u.mp4
And currently the panning method is more like using middle mouse button on a webpage. That can be a good option for user familir with this method. I still hope we can have a option that are more similar to design tool canvas approach.
Thank you!
took another crack at this and think i got it now
just shipped
Awesome! The panning is way more predictable now, and it’s just perfect! ty Pirijan! <3
you’re welcome
Hi Pirijan, I’m here to update you on the new findings regarding this issue. After the last update, the panning of canvas with the mouse is basically good enough. However I found that the “inertia system” for panning may still cause some problems. Like what I captured in the video, even if I only pan a short distance, as long as there is hesitation in releasing the middle button, the canvas will continue to move, and with the next slight movement, it quickly snaps back to the initial position, resulting in a large area of visual distortion, which creates a confusing experience. I did not encounter this issue when using touch screens or touchpads; it seems to only occur when panning with the mouse.

Hey Leon , can you try refreshing and let me know whether you still see the inertia. I removed that yesterday so that when not moving the mouse the screen shouldn’t move
uhh I feel stupid. I forced a refresh on my home computer and it really disappeared! Thank you! I think the version I use on my work computer is probably the latest version, but the one on my home computer might not be the latest. so after I come back from the office I thought the inertia effect was added in a later update lol.
glad to hear it’s working now
