A really cool feature of outliners are that any block can become the title for a new “document”, by zooming-in. For example if you had
# Animals
- Wolves
- They eat deer
- Cows
- They eat grass
you can zoom-in and have a document like
# Wolves
- They eat deer
I think a feature like this for kinopio would be awesome. What I’m imagining: on any card, you can press a button, and it will bring you to a new blank “virtual space” with only one card in the center—the card you clicked on. This would make organizing ideas a lot easier. If something grows too large or too disconnected from the current space, you easily retain the existing connection and still have a new space to work with.
This can already be sort-of accomplished by manually creating a new space and using a link. But that has many issues:
- It is extremely tedious
- The space, initial card, backlink, and link have to be manually created
- There’s no obvious link between a card and a space
- It clutters the list of actual spaces
- If you remove everything in a child space, you have to manually delete it
- Virtual spaces don’t suffer from this, on account of them being dynamic
