Highlight (md)

Reposting this from Discord for a vibe check.

Context:
Been using the tagging system to do my highlights for longer text, quick hack that works - though I wonder if its clogging my tagging in general (Sidemenu listing)

I wonder if there is a way that we could use Tags, and fork it to be a variant for highlighting feature. I like the visual style of tags + how it already adapts the card size.

Q: Would it warrant feature request to fork that with a few tweaks to make a stand alone highlight feature

Markdown:
Would be “==” for the highlight wrap

Key bind Shortcut:
Shift + ctrl + B (shift ctrl H is already binded to take you to Home)
Color picker:
??? Open I guess as its card dependent. Original thought is to limit it to 3 colours following the marking up visuals (Yellow, Green, Red)

** Advance function:**

**Tags/Highlights:**
(side menu change) - switch between these two if you need filter between. **

**Export highlights:**
When filtering only highlights, another cool function is an batch export.
Either it it exports all cards with highlights, or exports only highlights

is == to highlight standard markdown? I couldn’t find that

if you mean from a performance perspective, I wouldn’t worry about clogging up your tags. I can optimize the performance of that

I believe it’s an extended option on some apps/soft

I use it iAwriter, I think obsidian parses it as well. Wraps it as a html tag mark

Oh hey - it worked on this forum. Lol. (Wrapping it with a html, markdown didn’t trigger FYI)

i think it would be a lot easier to add simple highlighting support like this , but making the highlights clickable and have their own fancy data model might be a bit much for a v1. Would that be sufficient?
