Documents/Outlines

This is a crazy big question, but one thing I find myself wishing for often is a way to develop documents from within Kinopio. Here’s an example of what I mean:

Picture something like Workflowy. It would be cool to be able to create a card that can then be “expanded” to a large blank outline, and to then type out a document, then zoom back out, causing that full document to shrink back down to the size of a card.

I suppose it’s sort of like the “back” of a Trello card, but less cluttered—just a blank sheet of paper that can be turned into a document.

Right now, one way to do this is to create a document that can be accessed online, like a Workflowy “node,” and copy a link to a card in Kinopio. But it feels like it would be a very natural thing to be able to create these documents entirely within Kinopio.

Again, I realize this is a huge thing, and not something that can just be added in an instant… but right now I’m wondering if others have had similar requests and have maybe found elegant solutions?

not sure if this helps, but you can edit all your cards in a space with a text editor like ui via Sidebar → Text

I’ll check it out…

That makes me think: what about hosted text files that are editable in external text editors. Then someone could edit a card with iA writer, or taskpaper. Not sure how that would be implemented. Perhaps by hosting on something like iCloud or Dropbox, and dropping a link to Kinopio which inserts a card, but that card is updated every time the text file is edited externally….

I suppose this functionality is already in place as a link to any shared text file… but what if Kinopio could display a shared text file’s content as the card, rather than a link.

Thinking out loud….
