Align and tidy buttons not working well

I tried and reproduced. I started with this:

Selected all the cards, and hit the align left and tidy button. And I got this:

If you keep clicking the button, it will eventually result in the desired behavior.

I see this on Safari Technology Preview and Firefox and the mac app.

I see the same (bad) behavior on iPhone.
