i’m not sure i understand,

can you walk me through the use case in more detail?

Just to throw my two cents in:

I might be taking notes in today’s journal space and then an idea for something I need to do tomorrow comes up. I’d like to get tomorrow’s journal space started today so I can make that note for it to be there for me tomorrow.

As an aside for something way out of reasonable scope, if Links become robust in the same vein as the “Persistent Tag Card” idea I had. Just being able to write a card in today’s space with /tomorrows space and then have that show up in tomorrow’s space in some sort of way would be amazing.

You can also create ‘tomorrow’s’ journal by adding a new journal and changing the date in the space name. There’s nothing inherently special about journal spaces (except the moonphase, which isn’t likely to change between individual days)

Ah okay that’s good to know. I’ve hesitated to even try worried that /journal might not work when tomorrow rolls around.

/journal decides whether to create a new space or open today’s journal based only on space name, so it should still work w tomorrow named spaces

Could we get, perhaps, a calendar so we could easily create future dates?

At the beginning: It could be just a super simple pop-up calendar.
Advanced: The calendar would also show for which days there are already entries (like a small dot under the number).

could you describe your use case for this?

I have a meeting in future. So, I create a date in future and make preparations. When the day comes and I open the daily page as usual, the information will be already there, waiting for me.

being able to use a cal to edit the date of journals would probably cover more use cases (like journals for tomorrow, or keeping a single journal ‘daily’ for a while).

eg. create the journal as normal, then edit the date similar to where the name is updated (with a control that’s only visible to journal spaces).

ideally using the native html date picker https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/input/date

So you mean I would have to create the second daily journal and then I could change the date?

I guess it would be fine. However, if one could create it directly, then it could be used also with new / command , for sending there to-do etc.

yes, the reason to do this through editing is to not add complexity to the addspace flow/ui (i think the current addspace ui is already too complicated).

For normal users, creating a new space should feel as breezy and non-serious-commitment as possible

Okay. I feel it could be easier but as long as there is some type of calendar, I will be happy .

You can create tomorrows space with kinopio.club/new/tomorrow

That is a nice little thing! It could perhaps work with natural language date parser? Like “next week”, “next friday” etc.
