Consider adding some simple frame option which could be used for images.
Maybe it would make Kinopio less fun? But something that would bring a frame around a whole image would be useful.

by simple frame, do you mean one that adds a solid border around the image? what would the frame help accomplish?
Yup. It woud help separate the image from the background. But maybe this would go against the philosophy of Kinopio?

I think this would be better accomplished in this case by setting a non-plain-white background

as you aluded to, the primary goal of frames is fun and making specific cards feel ‘special’
